September Book Club!

I'll be hosting the book club on Tuesday, September 23rd at the radio station (1600 Utica Ave S. St. Louis Park-5th floor-Continental Diamond is in the lobby) Because we're at the station, I won't have alcoholic beverages:( I know...Liabilities and all that lame stuff. However, we'll have food provided by Which Wich again! Book Club will start at 6p.m. and go through about 7p.m. (then, there are tons of places you can go grab a drink in the West End:)

We are full at this time.

I also have a lot of new book club attendees! It's an extremely laid back atmosphere. Sometimes people don't finish the book, and that's ok. Of course, we'd love if you can. It's a great way to make some new friends and get a free meal!

This Month's Book is:

Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris

About the Book: David Sedaris returns to his deliriously twisted domain: hilarious childhood dramas infused with melancholy; the gulf of misunderstanding that exists between people of different nations or members of the same family; and the poignant divide between one's best hopes and most common deeds. The family characters his readers love are all here, as well as the unique terrain they inhabit, strewn with comic landmines. 'The Rooster' is back, and getting married in the funniest wedding ever described. David attends a slumber party and gets the upper hand in a unique version of strip poker. 'Rubber or plastic?' The strangest questions can tear people apart. A skinny guy from Spain, wearing a bishop's hat and accompanied by six to eight men, invades your house and pretends to kick you. Is this any way to spend Christmas? With this new book, Sedaris's prose reaches breathtaking new heights and marks off a territory that is unmistakably his own. Read it and weep tears of humane laughter.

We'll have passes to see Gone Girl and prizes from the movie THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU which hits theaters 9/19. It is a hilarious and moving comedy/ drama about a group of adult siblings forced to spend a week together in the family house after their father passes away.  The film's amazing cast is led by Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, Corey Stoll and Jane Fonda who delivers a hilarious performance as their mother, a celebrity psychologist who wrote a book about the family and is still dealing with the fallout. The ensemble also includes Rose Byrne, Kathryn Hahn, Timothy Olyphant, Connie Britton and Dax Shepard.
