I know I stole that line from Ohio State, but screw them!  Even though my wife went there!

We are less than two weeks away from our first ever live show, in the St. Paul Winter Carnival Parade on January 28!

We practiced outside for the first time on Saturday on the roof of the iHeart Media parking garage.  The trumpet that sounds off?  Yeah, that's me!


Let's meet the band!

Joe graduated from St. John’s University where he played baseball and trombone (not simultaneously). He’s an Iowan by birth but Minnesotan by choice. He enjoys fitness, exploring The Cities with his pup Sasha, and playing any sport with “-ball” in it.

Jeanette plays trumpet in "Dat Brass Doe" and is a long-time listener of KDWB. Originally from Scandia, she moved to the city to attend the University of Minnesota and graduated in 2012 with a BA in French as well as a Business degree in MIS and International business. She works at Northwestern Mutual as the Director of Client Services for Hebig Financial. Jeanette likes to travel, dance, explore the Twin Cities, and try new foods. She is often found performing with or serving on the boards of Bollywood Dance Scene, Expertease Fitness, and Keane Sense of Rhythm Tap Company. She lives in Minneapolis with her cat, Sasha. 

Ellen is originally from Eagan, Minnesota and got her bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. She later attended Michigan State University for her Master's degree and is now employed as a Forensic Scientist. In her spare time she reads science fiction, cross stitches, and spends time with her two cats and parent's corgi/collie mix. Ellen plays trombone for the band.

Megan (baritone) graduated from the U of M (go Gophers!), where she played in several athletic bands, and is now a member of the Calhoun-Isles Community Band. She works in local government. Megan lives in South Saint Paul with her two dogs and fiancé, Dave. Megan enjoys volunteering, cribbage, and trashy TV.

Jason was born in St Paul, Minnesota, now he lives in Woodbury. He received an AAS degree in Applied Visual Art Dakota County Technical College. Which means He could decide what type of art he liked best, so he did them all. He work in the graphics department at a printer in Roseville. He has been married to his wife Erin for 6 year, and they have 2 energetic boys( 4 and 1 years old). In his spare time(when he has some) he chooses between a plethora of interests including Tapletop RPGs and Wargames, reading mostly fantasy fiction (but likes a little of everything), Playing video games, Snowboarding, drawing, learning how to code. He has been a band geek his whole life so he is having fun being able to play in a band again. Jason plays Snare drum for the band.

Mat is originally from Austin, Texas, went to college in Nebraska where he received a degree in Sports Management and Broadcasting, and currently lives in Minneapolis, where he works as a Solutions Engineer. In his free time, enjoys staying active in the music community (Calhoun-Isles Community Band, and Minnesota Brass Drum and Bugle Corps), coaching high school volleyball, playing Volleyball, board games, and exploring local breweries.

Marshall is from Almelund also known as the Busiest Small Town in Minnesota. He has an Associate Degree from Minnesota School of Business in Digital Video and Media Production. He is currently working as a Dental Lab Technician. He likes to play a wide variety of games. He has recently gotten married to his girlfriend of 7 years. Marshall plays trombone for the band.

Justin Johnson Is From A Small Town In Minnesota. He Enjoys Spending Time With Friends And Family. In His Free Time He Likes Playing A Wide Variety Of Board And Video Games And Snowmobiling When He Can. He Is Currently Furloughed From The Railroad As A Conductor. He Plays The French Horn / Melophone For The Band

12-year-old is the youngerst member of Dat Brass Doe!  Jacob lives in Burnsville, MN and attends Nicollet Middle School. He likes video gaming with his friends, anything related to Drama and the theater and playing his trombone. He also likes being active outside biking and playing with his dog, Rexy. He lives at home with his Mom and Dad.

Jennie is a 5-12th grade band director in a small school district in north/central Minnesota. She started on clarinet in 6th grade, but as a music teacher, likes to play all the band instruments. She began her teaching career at an international school in northern India.  Jennie is currently playing the trumpet in Dat Brass Doe. She really got use out of that instrument when she would blast notes to scare rhesus monkeys away from her music office in India, so students could come to their music lesson. Jennie also loves to travel, she went to Ecuador with a group of students last summer and plans to travel to Iceland, Scotland and Ireland this coming summer. Jennie also loves to swim, bike, rollerblade (even though stopping is sometimes an issue) and paddle board.   

This is Dave's boy, Carson on bass drum!  Carson enjoys staring at his phone, ignoring his dad, watching trashy R-rated movies with his buddies and napping.  Carson has about a zillion letters in high school band and finds playing bass drum for his dad's band far below his level of ability.

Jason received a Bachelor of Music Education from UW - River Falls in 2008 and recently has been found teaching 5th grade in St. Paul. He loves reading, cooking, flying, biking, hiking, camping, skiing, binge watching Netflix (or Hulu, Amazon, etc.), and playing music whenever he can. He is one-half of the Twin Cities-based musical duet, "The Chillbillies" and is looking forward to adding "Dat Brass Doe" to his ever growing list of bands and ensembles he has played with through his many years as a musician. He lives in St. Paul with his wife and 7 year old, a dog, a cat, and (at last count) 15 different musical instruments.

Stacie has played trumpet for 10 years in concert and jazz bands. She recently graduated with a masters degree and works as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Bloomington schools and is a certified therapeutic horseback riding instructor for individuals with disabilities. Stacie lives in Lester Prairie, MN with her dog, cats, and horses. 

Mitchell graduated from the University of Notre Dame and is employed as an Integrations Manager with UnitedHealth Group. In his spare time he enjoys reading and watching movies. He lives in Minnetonka, Minnesota with his wife Katie and 9 month old daughter Olivia.
