The Best and Worst Cities for Surviving a Zombie Apocalypse

In every zombie movie and TV show, the cities always get hit the hardest. So this list might be a little suspect.

Someone ranked the best U.S. cities for surviving a zombie apocalypse. And three of America's BIGGEST cities made the top five.

Houston is supposedly #1

New York is #2

and Los Angeles is fifth.

To be fair, they ONLY looked at big cities the 200 largest in the U.S. It's probably a given that middle-of-nowhere Alaska would be better. A similar study a while back found Alaska would be the best state.

For this one, they looked at 30 different metrics across five categories: "Vulnerability", "Mobility", "Supplies", "Hideouts", like how many people have basements, and "Protection," or how easy it would be to find weapons.

According to the results, the 10 best cities for a zombie apocalypse are: Houston, New York, San Antonio, Miami, L.A. Austin, San Diego, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Orlando.

From a supplies standpoint, New York has the most for hideouts, it's Minnesota's Twin Cities for weapons, it's Houston and Miami is the least vulnerable overall.

Miramar, Florida just north of Miami ranked last overall. So that's the worst city to be in for a zombie apocalypse unless you're a zombie, then it's the best.

The five worst cities you could be in are: Miramar, Florida, Jackson, Mississippi, North Las Vegas, Paterson, New Jersey, and Pembroke Pines, Florida, right next to Miramar.
