Dave's Weekend in Five Photos (April 7-9)

Wait, the weekend's over already?  :)

Well, the weeks themselves aren't actually so bad either.

This weekend was crazy busy.  I got up early on Saturday to go on a 10 mile hike with the Boy Scouts.  We are training for an 11 day, 84 mile hike in New Mexico this summer.  It was great that so many people we saw on the trail, men AND women, asked if we were training for Philmont.  It's a legendary place and tons of people know about it.

I'll talk more about this later, but I can see Scouting making a resurgence.  In an age where we all want something meaningfull that builds character, serves the less-fortunate, and appreciates and preserves the environment, rather than worships fame, wealth and criminal behavior, Scouting is a great choice.  If you want to make a positive change in the world, rather than complain on Facebook or "Share if you believe this message" then support Scouting.  It's amazing and yes there are options for boys, girls and EVERYONE is welcome!

Families have traditions and this is ours.  On birthdays we go to Benihana.  Carson has gone every year since his first birthday.  #ShrimpSauce

After Benihana, Susan and I were looking for movies on Hulu and found this one.  I remember people said it was great so we watched it, and it was.  Very sweet and yes, entertaining and educational too!

Sunday we got up early and worked all day on Carson's Eagle Scout service project.  He has to do something to benefit the community so he's collecting used band instruments for kids in elementary school that want to be in band but can't afford an instrument.  He figures everyone should have the chance to discover their gift of making music.  He and the scouts distributed 2400 flyers around Chanhassen looking for used instruments.  Once he has them, he has to clean and oil them and make minor repairs.  Lots of work but he's into it and it's totally worth it.

While we were out distributing flyers, I noticed a bush with tiny little green buds on it.  It's kind of hard to see in this picture, but what a great sign of Spring!

I hope you had a great weekend too!  I appreciate you looking at my blog!
